it is known by now, as you all who have been following my STRANGER saga, that i have been away for a looooooooooooooooong time. and you people have probably thought i've died from some freak accident. but no, i'm still here. now, before you throw rocks at me and try to tear at my throat with murderous intent for disappointing you all by dropping the fic, i just want to say that, YES, i WILL be COMPLETING stranger because it has about 6 chapters left in the sequel.
the main reason why i stopped is because i got sidetracked with another obsession. i'm still 100% a fan of RYRO. but i think my brain has gone all soggy and yuck and it has been months since i wrote anything remotely fan fiction-ish. maybe it's because i've been doing more reading than writing, AND also because i've been busying myself in the fashion/design industry. and i've taken a fancy to drawing and art. =)
it'll be some time before i update stranger and do up the prequel to rivers and fireflies, but rest assured that i WILL finish them before i die.

Stranger Update. Chapter 24: Inside Man.
I JUST GOT BACK FROM A LEADERSHIP CAMP! AND I HAVE LOADS OF NEW IDEAS FOR NEW RYRO ONE-SHOT FICS. THANK GOD FOR THAT CAMP. Seriously. It went from Friday to Sunday (So it was a 2 night, 3 day camp) and it was more like a retreat than a camp. From Monday to Thursday I've been sleeping at 2am every night because of my mountain of assignments and homework. But on the camp, I had loads of relaxation. It was awesome and very, very well-needed.

Notes for Chapter 17: Yeah, interesting as it may have been, there was hardly any Marie/John interaction in this one. Mystique plays a pretty darn big part in this fic. She's a character that I may very well want to start writing about in future, only because she has such a shadowed past, much like Pyro. Some people are starting to form conclusions that I'm gonna' kill off our favourite main character in this fic. Because I'm such an angst person. Well, I can't say anything yet. But I've already put the plot together and I can tell you one thing: people are going to die.

Uploaded the next chapter to 'Stranger' yesterday. I intended it to be much longer than what I posted but I wanted it up by Wednesday night so I shortened my initial plans for the chapter and thought I'd just stick the deleted scenario into chapter 12 instead.

I have finally begun the sequel to Stranger which will be posted, not as a separate fic, but as a combined/second part fic tagged on to the first. It's easier that way, for both me and the readers. Yeah. So after days of contemplation, I finally gave it the green light and put the spin-off into development. The Prologue is up now and things are looking all right. I think. We'll see. Haha. And I'm a sucker for reviews. They just make me happy. Well, constructive ones do anyway. LOL.
May I add that I absolutely despise the Kiro/Kyro pairing? I absolutely CANNOT ship them. When I see icons and wallpapers of them toegther, I gag. I mean, who knows, I might probably enjoy reading a few Kyro fics when I ever dare to set my eyes on one. But... I cannot for the life of me imagine those two together. It pisses me off. Okay, I'm done ranting.

[ PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MAN'S CHEST ]
DEAD MAN'S CHEST. Went for the 9:30pm Pirates of the Caribbean screening last night. It ended at 12 midnight. The first few minutes into the movie and I knew this wouldn't be as good as I had anticipated (and surely it wouldn't be as good as the first, as for all sequels) and when I finally walked out, i had only one thought in my head: I fucking hope that PotC 3 is gonna better than that or I will KILL someone. I tried hard to love this movie. I really did. Maybe my expectations were too high. But seriously... THIS?!honestly, it was CRAP. especially for someone who actually MEMORISED all of jack sparrow's lines in the first film. i was SO disappointed in that film. don't get me started with the whole jack/will/norrington shit. and wtf? ragetti and pintel actually wanted to KILL elizabeth? WTFWTFWTF?! 'ello poppin... fuck, that was from PotC 1 and WE KNOW THAT. well, not many people do. so WHY THE HELL DO THEY KEEP USING CONCEPTS AND JOKES FROM THE FIRST FILM!!?? people who didn't watch that one probably didn't get a single thing from the fucking movie. thank goodness i did. okay, first thing: IF YOU WANT TO WATCH THIS MOVIE, GO SEE POTC 1 just BEFORE the bloody film. thanks.

Acting: 6/10 - You just don't feel the same vibes coming from these same actors anymore when you compare it to the first film.
Directing: 6/10 - I heard that Verbinski handed most of the reins over to the actors themselves to figure out what the wanna' do. Bad move.
Special effects: 8/10 - Thumbs up here. Kraken and Davy Jones included.
Plot: 6/10 - For 2 and a half hours, I was kinda' hopin' the thing would GO SOMEWHERE instead of run around in circles. And what was with that scene on that cannibal island thing?
Music: 8/10 - It was nice to see that the scores were used from the first movie (and they were gorgeous). But it was kinda' disappointing that they didn't compose new ones. I know the old ones would give the feel of 'continuity' from the first film but... yeah...

Went for the screening of Superman Returns last night. Directed by Bryan Singer (director of X-Men 1 and 2), it's definitely worth seeing this movie for yourself. IN THE CINEMAS. Holy crap, Clark kent/Superman (Brandon Routh) is awesome in that movie! Not only that, he's like, a totally new actor to the big screens! "Although he had relatively few professional credits to his name, handsome and clean-cut actor Brandon Routh soared into the media limelight when he was cast as the Man of Steel in director Bryan Singer’s highly anticipated revival of the original superhero film franchise “Superman Returns” (2006)." - Yahoo! Running for 2 hrs + 34 min, make sure you have a quick trip to the toilet before entering the cinema.
Kate Bosworth Plays Lois Lane, Clark Kent's love interest. Lois, who's moved on in life following the leave of Superman, has in turn been engaged to co-worker and pilot, Richard White (James Marsden - Scott Summers in the X-movieverse for you nutters out there). They have a son, but it isn't exactly clear whose son it is until much later in the movie. It's a crap long movie but it was good. Special effects were superb and the best actor award for this film would definitely have to go to Kevin Spacey for doing such a great job with Lex Luthor's character.
Overall, Superman Returns (2006) is a must-watch for movie fanatics who have a love for superheroes and special effects. Superman Returns is just awesome eye candy for you guys.
-RATINGS-
Acting: 7/10 - some characters were severly underused who could've been awesome in the acting department, but overall, the acting is highly credible and not at all cheesy.
Directing: 7/10 - of course this is expected from a comic-turned-movie kind of film. It's tough directing these sort of things and I would say one thing and that is that Bryan Singer has done an amazing job.
Special effects: 9/10 - Yes! This movie will actually make you believe that flying is possible. And those Krypton islands... Wonderful.
Plot: 6/10 - The storyline was a tad weak (in terms of Lex's plans on world domination) but it gives the film a chance to develop Superman's relationship with Lois Lane.
Music: 9/10 - John Ottman HAS DONE IT AGAIN! This time incorporating a 'Superman touch' to the music. Awesome stuff.
OVERALL: 7.6/10

I usually tell people about my fanfic updates on my blog... but because the thing has been on hiatus for... a long while, and I've only been constantly updating this workdesk lilac- thingy, I thought 'hey! why don't I just post it up here instead!' Yep, neglecting my online journal. As usual. So anyway, HOLY CRAP. 86 reviews for 4 chapters of Stranger! 2 more chapters to go and it'll finally be done. FINALLY! Hmm... Thinking of doing a sequel though... YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST! I *MIGHT* BE DOING A SEQUEL! [ THE LAST STAND ]
Having waited for this very movie to be screened since the trailers were released, I had extremely high expectations. Who wouldn't, what with it being rumoured to be the last and final installment of the series, thus completing the trilogy of three. As always, you and I know that spin-offs don't usually live up to the original so it's fair to say that this last movie was the worst out of the three. But arguably, it's done pretty well considering the fact that Brett Ratner took Bryan Singer's place in directing the movie.
The plot, squeezed into a time frame of about 104 minutes, has its moments as well as its weaknesses (as do all sequels). In short, a cure is found to rid mutants of their powers. Those shamed by it and deem their powers a curse are more than happy to take the cure, made by the notable mutant Leech who is able to nullify mutant powers, and lose their abilities. Among this dilemma is the unforgettable, horror-filled return of Jean Grey (Famke Janssen), now the frightful Phoenix, whose magnificent powers have magnified a hudred-fold and worse - gone totally awry and out of control and thus, posing a threat to man-kind. This sparks tension between the X-Men, led by Professor Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart), and the newly-formed evil Brotherhood (pictured below), led by Eric Lensherr/Magneto (fitfully played by Ian McKellen).
Needless to say, Magneto believes the cure to be and outrage to mutant-kind and seeks to find the ones responsible for such an abomination, allying his team of mismatched mutants with the Dark Phoenix whose trust he had gained after events that happened at the Greys' house. With this, and destruction in its wake, the X-men are the only ones capable of stopping them.
For a movie this short, it is sad to say that everything from head to toe seems rushed, cut-short and not-very-detailed. Those who aren't fans to the Marvel comics wouldn't understand much of the story. Those who are might feel a triffle unhappy with the storyline. Either way, what it lacks in is made up by spectacular graphics and memorable, albiet tear-jerking, events.
To the delight of some, many new characters have been introduced, including the much-anticipated Dr. Henry "Hank" McCoy/Beast (Kelsey Grammer), who plays a significantly big role in the movie. Kelsey does an excellent job in portraying Beast's character. The charm, the wit and the necessary natural ability are all there. Then there's Kitty Pryde, known as Shadowcat (although not mentioned in the movie), played by Ellen Page. Her role is interesting regarding the love triangle between her, Bobby Drake/Iceman (Shawn Ashmore) and Rogue (Anna Paquin).
Others include Warren Worthington III, more commonly known as Angel (pictured below), played by Ben Foster who handles his role well although not really doing much in the movie (I expected him to play a bigger role, what with all the promo pics and everything, but this was not to be). In my opinion, his wings are awfully er... 'synthetic'.
Others who should've gotten a bigger role if not for the rushed time frame of the movie could've been characters such as Raven Darkholme, more commonly known as Mystique (Rebecca Romijn) who, sadly, had her powers taken from her in an attempt to save Magneto. After that, the ungrateful Magneto disowns Mystique, claiming she was no longer one of them [a mutant]. Scott Summers' role did James Marsden no justice when he was killed off by the Phoenix no more than 10 minutes into the show. Rogue (pictured), who desperately longed to touch someone without hurting them, went to get herself cured, thus losing her mutant powers. Why such a highly regarded character in the trilogy had her powers removed is unknown, afterall, they should have used her for the final battle. That would've been cool. Instead, she walked straight out of the movie, not to return till everything's over, when she decided to cure herself. SHE NEEDED MORE SCREEN TIME.
But then again, trying to squeeze 20 new characters into 104 minutes is not going to turn out very satisfying, much less for the old, original characters. The spotlight on each and every oneof them had been shamefully split into a spectrum of thinly portrayed colours. These old and lovable characters (including John Allerdyce/Pyro (pictured), played by Aaron Stanford) had their limelight squished into meagre minutes of screen time. That goes for Arclight, Kid Omega, Callisto and the rest of the new mutants. We see Storm/Ororo Munroe (Halle Berry) having a greater role in this last installment (taking over Xavier's role as leader of the X-Men) as well as Wolverine/Logan (Hugh Jackman), who is the obvious protagonist. Although these two have obvious talent in making their characters come to life, no one does a better job than Sir McKellen at playing Magneto. His dry sense of humour topped with his ability to play the evil villian does the trick.
Some events that could have been strecthed out and be further developed: Rogue/Bobby/Kitty love triangle (one that only Rogue sees to exist), the Iceman/Pyro rivalry, Magneto's and Mystique's betrayal of each other, Angel's role, Juggernaut's (Vinnie Jones) role and especially Jean grey/Dark Phoenix's role (she didn't really do anything now, did she?)
All in all, X-Men III: The Last Stand did have its moments, I'll grant you that. A must-watch.

Acting: 6/10 - believable albiet a little cheesy.
Directing: 7/10 - not too bad.
Special effects: 10/10 - AWESOME. Look for the action at the Grey's house.
Plot: 8/10 - It 'sort of' follows some parts of the original Marvel storyline.
Music: 8/10 - John Powell deserves a clap on the back.
OVERALL: 7.8/10 =)
